FDA Equivalence Determination for Spain and the Netherlands' EU Food Safety Measures for Raw Bivalve Shellfish

Summary

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made a final determination that Spain and the Netherlands' implementation of the European Union's food safety control measures for raw bivalve shellfish, including additional controls for US export, provides at least the same level of sanitary protection as comparable measures in the US. This equivalence allows for the importation of raw shellfish from certain Spanish and Dutch production areas, subject to FDA's Interstate Certified Shellfish Shippers List (ICSSL).
