Power and Communication Contractors Association (PCCA) Requests Exemption from Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Requirements for Construction Industry

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has received a request from the Power and Communication Contractors Association (PCCA) to exempt commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operators in the power and communications construction industry from installing and using electronic logging devices (ELDs) to record hours-of-service (HOS) by December 18, 2017, citing limited safety benefits and the need for a paper record of duty status (RODS) for HOS compliance.
