Medicare Program; Cancellation of Advancing Care Coordination Through Episode Payment and Cardiac Rehabilitation Incentive Payment Models; Changes to Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Payment Model: Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances Policy for the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Payment Model

The Medicare program is canceling the Episode Payment Models and Cardiac Rehabilitation Incentive Payment Model, and making changes to the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model, including giving hospitals a one-time option to opt out and increasing the pool of eligible clinicians. An interim final rule with a comment period is being issued to address the need for flexibility in determining episode costs in areas affected by extreme and uncontrollable circumstances.
