NMFS Closes Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Fishery for Remainder of 2017

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has closed the General category fishery for large Atlantic bluefin tuna in the United States for the remainder of 2017, citing concerns over overharvesting the available quotas. The closure aims to prevent the depletion of the December subquota and the 2017 General category quota, which stands at 688.7 metric tons.
