NRC Considers Renewal of SMUD's SNM License for Rancho Seco ISFSI Storage

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is considering a renewal application for Sacramento Municipal Utility District's (SMUD) Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) License No. SNM-2510, which authorizes SMUD to store spent fuel from Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station in the Rancho Seco Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) for an additional 40 years. The NRC proposes to determine that this license renewal application involves no significant hazards consideration.
