FDA Clears GLUCOPHAGE for Continued Sale

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ruled that GLUCOPHAGE (metformin hydrochloride) oral tablets and GLUCOPHAGE XR (metformin hydrochloride) extended-release tablets will not be withdrawn from sale due to safety or effectiveness concerns, allowing the agency to continue approving abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) for these products.
