HUD Finalizes Rule for Equal Access in Community Planning and Development Programs Based on Gender Identity
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued a final rule to ensure equal access for individuals in accordance with their gender identity in community planning and development programs and shelter funded under HUD's Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD). This rule builds upon HUD's 2012 Equal Access Rule, which aimed to ensure equal access to HUD's housing programs regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and addresses the accommodation of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in temporary shelters and facilities.
