U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Proposes Amendment to Spent Fuel Storage Regulations

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to update its regulations for storing spent nuclear fuel by revising the listing of AREVA Inc.'s Standardized NUHOMS Cask System, which includes changes to the authorized contents of dry shielded canister models and removal of language requiring the return of transfer casks after a drop of over 15 inches.
