FDA Grants Petition to Ban Synthetic Flavoring Agents Linked to Cancer

The FDA has agreed to amend food additive regulations to prohibit the use of six synthetic flavoring substances, including benzophenone, after a group of organizations and individuals, including the Breast Cancer Fund and Environmental Working Group, submitted a petition citing evidence that these substances cause cancer in laboratory animals.
