USDA Delays Organic Livestock and Poultry Rule by Six Months
The United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has delayed the effective date of a rule on organic livestock and poultry practices from November 14, 2017, to May 19, 2018, to allow further consideration by the USDA. The rule, initially set to take effect on March 20, 2017, aims to improve animal welfare and production practices in organic farming.
