FHWA to Update Design Standards for National Highway System Projects

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is revising its design standards for projects on the National Highway System (NHS) to streamline the application of 13 controlling criteria and clarify when design exceptions are required, following recent research on safety and operational effects.
