Pipeline Safety: Safety of Hazardous Liquid Pipelines
The US government has taken steps to improve the safety of hazardous liquid pipelines following a series of accidents, including the 2010 crude oil spill in Marshall, Michigan, which released almost 1 million gallons of crude oil into the Kalamazoo River. The Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty, and Job Creation Act was enacted in response to the accident and other pipeline safety issues, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has made recommendations to address these concerns.
