NMFS Denies Petition to Exempt New York to Jacksonville Dredged Channels from Vessel Speed Restrictions

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has denied a petition to exempt federally-maintained dredged channels and pilot boarding areas from vessel speed restrictions designed to reduce collisions with North Atlantic right whales, and will instead revise its compliance guide to clarify navigational safety exceptions.
