U.S. Department of Energy Proposes Changes to Fluorescent Lamp Ballast Test Procedures

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to update its regulations for testing fluorescent lamp ballasts, replacing the ballast efficacy factor (BEF) with the ballast luminous efficiency (BLE) and adding rounding instructions for BLE and power factor, as well as clarifying the represented value instructions for power factor and revising Appendix Q to specify lamp-ballast pairings for testing.
