EPA Approves Michigan's State Plan for Sewage Sludge Incinerators, Small Municipal Waste Combustors

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved Michigan's State Plan to regulate air pollutants from sewage sludge incinerators, following a review of the plan's compliance with the Clean Air Act. The plan, submitted by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) on September 21, 2015, is now federally enforceable and supersedes any existing requirements for small municipal waste combustors in Michigan.
