FMCSA Denies Exemption to Entertainer Motorcoach Council for Non-Compliant Vehicles
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has denied an exemption application from the Entertainer Motorcoach Council (EMC) to allow its members to operate certain motorcoaches that do not meet the emergency exit requirements set by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). The FMVSS mandate requires vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of over 10,000 pounds, manufactured after September 1, 1994, to have side exits and at least one rear exit, or a roof exit in the rear half of the vehicle.
