US Fisheries Announce Inseason Adjustments to Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery
The US Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced inseason changes to management measures in the Pacific Coast groundfish fisheries, aimed at balancing access to abundant stocks with protection of overfished and depleted ones, as part of the Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery Management Plan (PCGFMP). The changes, effective November 26, 2015, include a prohibition on midwater trawl gear in certain areas to prevent exceeding the canary rockfish annual catch limit (ACL).
