NRC Issues Draft Regulatory Guide for Spent Fuel Heat Generation in ISFSI

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is seeking public input on a draft regulatory guide (DG-3050) that outlines acceptable methods for calculating spent nuclear fuel heat generation rates for use in independent spent fuel storage installations (ISFSI). The proposed revision, Revision 2, aims to provide a standardized approach for ISFSI operators to ensure safe and efficient heat management.
