NMFS Prohibits Pot Gear Fishing for Pacific Cod in Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has prohibited directed fishing for Pacific cod by pot catcher/processors in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area due to the risk of exceeding the 2010 total allowable catch (TAC) limit for pot catcher/processors in the region. This measure aims to prevent overfishing and maintain the sustainability of Pacific cod stocks in the BSAI.
