U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Announces 12-Month Finding on Petition to List Sierra Nevada Red Fox as Endangered or Threatened Species
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has completed a 12-month review of a petition to list the Sierra Nevada red fox as an endangered or threatened species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. The service has determined that listing the Sierra Nevada red fox subspecies is not warranted, but has identified two distinct population segments, the Southern Cascades and Sierra Nevada populations, which may be eligible for protection in the future.
