Fire Island National Seashore Wilderness Designation Update

The National Park Service has designated approximately 1,360 acres as wilderness in Fire Island National Seashore, with an additional 18 acres of potential wilderness that could be re-designated as wilderness once non-conforming uses are eliminated, following updates to the Wilderness Management Plan and recent damage from Hurricane Sandy.
