US Department of Agriculture Implements Electronic Benefit Transfer Provisions for WIC Program

The US Department of Agriculture has finalized a rule implementing electronic benefit transfer provisions for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), as mandated by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, with the goal of improving efficiency and reducing costs for the program by October 1, 2020.
