FSIS Amends Definition of Roaster Chicken Poultry Class

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is updating the definition of 'roaster' or 'roasting chicken' poultry to reflect the changing characteristics of this poultry class, in response to a petition from the National Chicken Council, and will remove the 8-week minimum age criterion and increase the ready-to-cook carcass weight from 5 pounds to 5.5 pounds.
