Atlantic Highly Migratory Species; Transshipment, Port Inspection, and Vessel Identification Rule
The U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has implemented new regulations for vessels with Atlantic highly migratory species (HMS) permits, aiming to align with the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) recommendations. The rule prohibits the transfer of HMS at sea and in port, except for certain limited circumstances involving Atlantic bluefin tuna.
