EPA Approves Illinois' Air Quality Plan for Chicago Area

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved Illinois' plan to maintain the 1997 annual fine particulate matter standard in the Chicago area through 2025, following a review of state-certified monitoring data from 2007-2012 and emission inventories for nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic compounds, ammonia, and primary particulate matter.
