EPA Exempts FD&C Green No. 3 from Tolerance Requirement for Antimicrobial Formulations on Food Contact Surfaces

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of FD&C Green No. 3, a dye used in antimicrobial formulations, on food contact surfaces in public eating places, dairy processing equipment, and food processing equipment and utensils. Ecolab, on behalf of Exponent, submitted a petition to the EPA under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) to request this exemption.
