EPA to Reissue Rules for 1997 PM2.5 NAAQS Classification and Deadlines

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing new rules to classify areas nonattainment for the 1997 and 2006 PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and set deadlines for states to submit state implementation plan (SIP) elements, following a 2013 court ruling that remanded the agency's previous implementation of the standards.
