US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Grants Exemption to Southern Nuclear Operating Company for Vogtle Electric Generating Station

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has granted an exemption to Southern Nuclear Operating Company to deviate from the certification information of Tier 1 of the generic design control document for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Units 3 and 4, located in Georgia. The exemption allows the plant to align its Tier 1 information with Tier 2 information provided in the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) to achieve consistency within its material.
