NRC Adopts Rule Certifying ESBWR Standard Plant Design

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is adopting a new rule certifying the Economic Simplified Boiling-Water Reactor (ESBWR) standard plant design, allowing applicants to construct and operate ESBWR designs by referencing the design certification rule (DCR). GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) is the applicant for certification of the ESBWR design.
