FDA Amends TBHQ Food Additive Regulations

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is updating its regulations regarding the use of tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), an antioxidant commonly used in food products, by removing the maximum melting point limit and introducing a purity standard. The change is a result of a petition submitted by Eastman Chemical Company.
