EPA Grants ExxonMobil's Petition to Exclude Hazardous Waste Underflow Water from Regulation

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted ExxonMobil's petition to exclude a certain amount of underflow water from hazardous waste control, allowing it to be disposed of in Subtitle D landfills without regulation. The EPA concluded that the water is not hazardous waste when disposed of in landfills, but will require testing to ensure future generations of the waste remain eligible for delisting.
