HUD Waives Regulations for Sandy Disaster Areas to Expedite Housing Recovery
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has granted regulatory and administrative waivers for public and Indian housing programs to facilitate the delivery of decent, safe, and sanitary housing to families and individuals displaced by Superstorm Sandy in affected areas. Entities administering these programs can defer compliance with HUD regulations for up to 12 months, with some exceptions for non-disaster areas assisting with recovery efforts.
