U.S. NRC Releases Final Guidance on Assessing Tsunami Hazards for Nuclear Power Plants

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has released a final guidance document, JLD-ISG-2012-06, to help nuclear power plant applicants and licensees assess flooding hazards in response to a recent request for information. The guidance clarifies procedures for evaluating tsunami, surge, or seiche hazards, following the Fukushima Dai-ichi accident in 2012.
