U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to Host Public Workshop on Revisions to NUREG/BR-0204

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is planning a public workshop to discuss potential revisions to NUREG/BR-0204, a set of instructions for completing the NRC's Uniform Low-Level Radioactive Waste Manifest. The workshop aims to gather input from experts and the public on how to improve the instructions, particularly regarding the reporting of certain difficult-to-measure radionuclides, such as Technecium-99, Carbon-14, Tritium, and Iodine-129, to minimize overestimation of activity and prevent premature closure of low-level radioactive waste disposal facilities.
