NRC Proposes Amendment to Spent Fuel Storage Regulations for MAGNASTOR System

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to update its regulations for the storage of spent nuclear fuel by revising the listing of the MAGNASTOR system, a nuclear storage cask developed by NAC International, Inc. The proposed changes would allow for the storage of damaged fuel from pressurized water reactors and fuel assemblies with specific hardware and burnup levels.
