U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Releases Draft Report on Spent Fuel Pool Study for U.S. Mark I Boiling Water Reactors

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued a draft report for public comment on a study examining the risks of a potential spent fuel pool accident at U.S. Mark I Boiling Water Reactors, with the goal of reducing risks to public health and safety by accelerating the removal of older, colder spent fuel from pools to dry cask storage.
