FDA Confirms Effective Date for Spirulina Extract Color Additive Rule

The FDA confirmed the effective date of May 13, 2014, for a final rule that expanded the use of spirulina extract as a color additive in food, following a rule published in the Federal Register on April 11, 2014. The rule amended color additive regulations to permit the use of spirulina extract made from the cyanobacteria Arthrospira platensis.
