NOAA Finalizes Rule to Promote Sustainable Swordfish Fishing

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has finalized a rule allowing U.S. fishermen to catch and sell a limited number of swordfish using low-bycatch gear, in line with the rebuilt status of the swordfish population. The new permit, which includes regional retention limits and reporting requirements, aims to promote sustainable fishing practices.
