Protective Regulations for the Gulf of Maine Distinct Population Segment of Atlantic Sturgeon

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is issuing an interim final regulation to protect the Gulf of Maine Distinct Population Segment (DPS) of Atlantic sturgeon, which was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) in 2012. The regulation extends prohibitions on harming the species, which are deemed necessary and advisable for its conservation.
