EPA Solicits Public Comment on Request for Emergency Exemption for Streptomycin Sulfate to Treat Citrus Canker
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has received a request from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to use the antibiotic pesticide streptomycin sulfate to treat up to 54,000 acres of fresh-market grapefruit to control citrus canker, a bacterial disease. The EPA is seeking public input before making a decision on whether to grant the exemption.
