EPA Approves Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill Area for Attainment of 1997 8-Hour Ozone Standard

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finalized its determination that the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, North Carolina-South Carolina nonattainment area has met the 1997 8-hour ozone national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS). This decision is based on quality assured air monitoring data from 2008-2010, which showed that the area has achieved attainment of the ozone standard.
