VA Proposes Rule to Exclude Insurance Payments for Intentional Killings

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) proposes to amend its regulations to exclude payment of insurance proceeds for Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) and Veterans' Group Life Insurance (VGLI) in cases where the insured person's death is linked to the intentional killing of the insured person by a family member or someone convicted of the crime. The proposed rule aims to prevent payments to individuals who have been found guilty of or involved in the intentional killing of the insured person.
