NHTSA Receives Petition for Importation of Nonconforming 2002 BMW R1100S Motorcycles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has accepted a petition from BMW Motorrad America LLC to allow the importation of 2002 BMW R1100S motorcycles that do not meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) due to their similarity to US-certified vehicles and their potential for modification to meet safety standards.
