FDA Exempts Mica-Based Pearlescent Pigments from Color Additive Certification for Certain Distilled Spirits

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has amended its regulations to allow the safe use of mica-based pearlescent pigments in distilled spirits with 18-23% alcohol content, in response to a petition from E. & J. Gallo Winery.
