FMCSA to Revise Policy on Hazardous Materials Safety Permits

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is updating its policy for calculating and publicly disclosing driver, vehicle, and hazardous materials out-of-service rates and crash rates. The new methodology uses eight years of data from 2003 to 2010 to determine the national average for eligible crash and out-of-service thresholds, replacing the previous two-year calculation method.
