U.S. Department of Energy to Revise Scope of Surplus Plutonium Disposition Environmental Impact Statement

The U.S. Department of Energy plans to expand the scope of its Surplus Plutonium Disposition Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement to include new alternatives for disassembling nuclear weapons components and converting plutonium into fuel material, with potential locations at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Savannah River Site, and Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility.
