Offset of Tax Refund Payments To Collect Past-Due Support

The U.S. Department of the Treasury is amending its regulation to limit the time period for recovering tax refund offset collections from states. The new rule restricts the time states have to return offset funds to six months from the date of collection, if the underlying refund was not due to the taxpayer.
