EPA Proposes Approval of Implementation Plans for Hickory, North Carolina's Air Quality
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to officially declare that the Hickory-Morganton-Lenoir area in North Carolina has met the 1997 fine particulate matter standard, based on three years of monitored data from 2006-2008 and unverified data from 2009. If approved, the state will no longer be required to submit detailed plans to reduce air pollution in the area.
