NMFS Proposes Exempted Fishing Permit for Surfclam and Ocean Quahog Harvesting

The Assistant Regional Administrator for Sustainable Fisheries, Northeast Region, NMFS, has made a preliminary determination that an application for an Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) submitted by Wallace and Associates warrants further consideration. The proposed EFP would extend the previously authorized permit for an additional year to test the safety and efficacy of harvesting surfclams and ocean quahogs from the Atlantic surfclam and ocean quahog Georges Bank Closure Area.
