DOE Accepts Claims for Reimbursement of Remedial Action Costs at Active Uranium and Thorium Processing Sites

The Department of Energy has accepted claims from eligible licensees for reimbursement of remedial action costs at active uranium and thorium processing sites under the Energy Policy Act of 1992, utilizing $70 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and an additional $10 million from the FY 2009 appropriation, with approximately $14 million of the funds expected to be reimbursed to licensees in early 2010.
